This is the best book of poetry I have ever read in my life. As a non-binary artist, most of my theatre-making is centred around creating space for trans and non-binary performers to exist or advocate for themselves. It is so profoundly meaningful to hold Andrea Gibson's words in my queer hands. To see someone else who uses they/them pronouns be so widely accepted and loved for their artistry means the world to me and helps me to imagine the possibility of not only my work but also the work of other queer and trans artists spreading across the world. BUY THIS BOOK. You'll likely need multiple copies. Buy one for your coffee table at home, one for your office and one for your purse because I promise you: one day you'll come across a stranger or a friend and they will in need of some poetry that strikes to the core of their being and you will be a hero in that moment because you'll be able to hand them this book without skipping a beat and make their millenium.
I have followed Andrea Gibson for awhile on social media through her Button Poetry spoken word videos. Ordered this book right away and breathlessly read the volume, even going so far as to dog ear my favorites. This is a volume I intend to come back to again and again.
