This textbook is readable, and has some useful reaction summaries at the end of each chapter. I was able to attain the 7th Ed for much cheaper, and I would highly recommend doing the same because after comparing the 2 side-by-side... In addition, during class lectures the professor frequently pointed out errors in the book's diagrams/pictures...which again made me feel comfortable returning the book to amazon for the 7th Ed.Amazon did a great job fulfilling the initial order, and the return process was simple/fast.
Needed this book for Ochem 1 and it has been good help, but not the best when it comes to explaining different scenarios. I wish it when more into detail on the Kj of different Newman projections.
This book is very pretty and has some nice pictures and explanations, but some of it was really hard to follow. I did excellent in General Chemistry but trying to keep up with some of the explanations was really challenging for me. Perhaps it was just the material, but I found the professor's explanations more useful than the text (usually it is the other way around for me), though the text was a good supplement. If you are taking Organic Chemistry, I would recommend working through Organic Chemistry as a Second Language before you start the term. You'll find it much easier to keep up in class.
Good book for beginners, for advanced students I would recommend the Clayden. The kindle price is ok, the price for the hardcover is not justified. I think the book does a good job teaching the subject, but it is not as rich and intellectually entertaining as the Clayden.
What I got was not the text book. It's the study guide.
Very good condition as my book had no torn pages, ink splots, misprints or any other issues, well so far haha, and when comparing it to the price of this book new or from another site it was overall a nice deal. Although I am aware the newest addition is out, this book is pretty much the same, and could definitely be used interchangeably, or if yoh want to aquire a better Organic Chemsitru knowledge or need it for your office this would be more than insightful.
Community college biology courses were interesting. The textbook was fully detailed up to the point that I didn't want to put it down. Biology was tough, but became easier via this book.
