Christie Pashby is the co-author of Frommer's Argentina and has authored Frommer's Banff for each of its four editions. She is the former editor o the Canmore Leader newspaper and Wildlife, a Bow Valley arts and entertainment newsmagazine. Her travel stories have also been published in major Canadian dailies and wide-ranging magazines. She was a staff reporter at the Tico Times in San Jose, Costa Rica. We went on a 10 day trip to the Rockies & let me tell you, I was inseparable with this book. It covered everything from A-Z. Especially helpfull for choosing hikes, camp sites, and had tons of information on different places in the towns. I could always find an address, phone #, operation hours, etc.When researching on which guide book was the best for me to take on this trip, I came across this one & another guide book (a more recent publication). But when I read the reviews about the other guide book, people were saying that it was mainly concentrating on hikes, and I knew that I wanted a little bit of everything. Plus when it comes to doing hikes, you can always find more detailed information on that at the parks' info centers.The only con of this book is that it is an older publication, therefore expect prices to be higher!But overall, I am very glad that I chose to take this guide book on our trip. It definitely gave me reassurance that we were getting the most out of our time spent there.
My wife ordered this book in preparation of an upcoming vacation. We are using it as a travel guide for a fly by the seat of your pants trip.No schedule, no groups, no time table.
Nice concise descriptions and good details of places to see, visit, and things to do. Easy to follow format and the index was surprisingly good. Good tips for hiking in the Canadian Rockies. Nice small size made it easy to keep this resource in a backpack pocket.
This book is very well organized. I have read it from cover to cover planning my trip. I also bought a similar book from Lonely Planet and the Frommers book is much better.
Disappointed that it is a 2008 edition. I hope that the information is not too out of date for a planned trip this summer. It's list price was $12.99 and I paid $27 which is rather inflated I think.
The book itself seemed fine enough but I didn't get why it cost $62.00 for a small paperback that in 2008 only cost $12.99.There is no indication it is out of print or some incredibly valuable book to command that type of price.
I bought this travel guide used for ~$4.00. Came on a timely base and it was in very good shape. A new book was ~$48.00 not bad for a one-time vacation guide.
