I bought these to use as inspiration for both art and creative writing projects, and was astounded at the quality. But I shouldn't have been. As publishers go, Taschen is a treasure. Every item I've bought from them has been a superb production. These people either love books as much as I do, or they're doing a great job of faking it.As other reviews have pointed out, the post cards are very heavy weight stock, and the box is a rock solid beast with the thoughtful addition of ribbon to help you life the postcards out of the box (which you'll need to do, because they fit with the precision of something I'd expect of a Large Hardon Collider component).
This postcard set is one of my faves! I am a huge fan of antique circus art and although these are definitely 'magic' themed, there is also fabulous old school circus and sideshow imagery. There are two postcards of each design. This made me happy because it's so hard to part with them! I love to send snail-mail and have already mailed out about 20 of these. An absolutely gorgeous set of postcards! But of course, this is Taschen so I expected no less!
As an avid postcard collector and sender, this is a CATCH!!! The card stock is amazing, and I can literally use about 96% of the cards in the set (compared to about 40-60% in other sets like the Disney or Pixar sets). The vintage selection is amazing, with varieties from around the world. I bought 2 boxes anticipating they'd be great, and I'm picking up a few more for my collection ( the first two or for me to actually use and send to friends). Zero regrets, you'll love these.
These postcards are great! It's a very beautiful set that I am currently using for sending postcards through postcrossing and swap-bot. They are fun and have different vintage magicians on them. I was under the impression that they would be 100 unique cards but they are 50 unique ones, 2 of each postcard. I am okay with this as they are all fun and will be using them all. The box the postcards come in is sturdy and fun to display. I have got two of these favorited on postcrossing already and it's my favorite postcard set that I've purchased so far!
Beautiful and colorful postcards. Very eye catching. Nice heavy paper stock. I already ordered a 2nd box. These are very nice quality. I love the box that they come in as well.
I love mailing and receiving postcards. This bundle offered a great selection of cards for my pen pals who love Vintage style cards. It's a great deal, too.
Fascinating pictures, although with all the images of demons & such, these probably aren't for everyone ( senders & recipients alike ). Also to mention--- there are 100 cards, but they're 2 each of 50 designs.
This is one of the best sets I've seen.
