One of the best investments you'll ever make in your vehicle!This book has paid for itself a thousand times over. All the instructions are clearly noted so even someone who knows almost nothing about cars could follow the instructions. The book is full of pictures that really help the process as well. My favorite part about the book is the "Troubleshooting" section where it gives almost any problem you could come across while driving the car. It tells you the main half-dozen reasons why it might be occurring, and details how to fix them. The book also has a specifications section with torque values, engine capacities, etc... Really a great book for anyone that wants to fix their car themselves.
As vehicles have become more complicated, they've also become more difficult for the Sunday mechanic to work on. The Haynes/Chilton (same books now) manuals reflect this fact. They walk you through the physical stuff, but the electronic and computer elements.. they're really not well addressed anymore.Still, this is a good book to have in your truck... just in case. Don't buy the more expensive Chilton's manual. Chilton and Haynes are now the same thing, and you'll just be buying a more expensive copy of this book.. for no real reason.
Haynes is a trusted name in the technical manual business for decades, the reason for my 3 star rating is (A) the paper and the binding of this book is as cheap as it gets (good for the price i suppose). (B) I had to replace the belt tensioner on my older toyota Sequia, the procedure was supposed to be very simple 3 step porcess according to this TM, it was completely wrong for my vehicle. it was a complicated 11-step process that involved reomving the alternator, un mounting the power steering pump and even removing 2 timing belt covers among other components. fair warning
Not that helpful, not very descriptive on many procedures. Many of the black and white photos are extremely fuzzy and unclear. The most helpful parts are engine rebuild and the exploded view diagrams come in handy for identifying parts.
This is what you buy when you see the factory set is over 200.00. Fairly adequate, but I can't find any wiring reference to the factory trailer plug relay box that came on my Tundra. If you are a decent mechanic it's a good reference, but nothing like the factory books I have had from Toyota.
I bought this for the wiring diagrams. To my surprise it is just the main systems, not the entire wiring...so the seat swap I'm trying to do I cannot until I find the wiring diagrams someplace else. I may use it in the future for other stuff but probably not.
Highly recommend this book. No need to ask your mechanic do it yourself.
Luckily I haven't had the need to become intimately acquainted with this manual from cover to cover. But it did give me the info I was looking for. (Normal battery drain with everything shut off should be less than 50ma.)
